Taste Cheshire are thrilled to announce their newest member’s, based in Frodsham, the fantastic MAIN STREET KITCHEN has joined our ranks and we can’t wait to start telling you all about them!

Main Street Kitchen is an all-day café, restaurant and bar in the historic Cheshire market town of Frodsham by husband and wife, Abelines and Lucy.

Hospitality has been their industry and they both wanted to go back into it as their youngest daughter came to finish her A-levels. It made sense to do it locally.

Lucy completed her apprenticeship at a gastronomic Relais & Chateaux restaurant in Provence before working in London. Lucy’s career as a Cordon Bleu chef culminated in the Nineties as head chef of The Hungry Monk in Jevington, East Sussex. The restaurant is the famed birthplace of the Banoffee pie.

Their most recent involvement with restaurants culminated in 2015 with the successful sale of Green’s Restaurant and Oyster Bar, of which Abelines was part owner and Managing Director, to Marlon Abela Restaurant Corporation. Green’s had two sites across London, one in St. James’s in the West End, and the other opposite the Bank of England in the City. It also managed a country pub with ten bedrooms in a quaint little village near Ascot.

At Main Street Kitchen the aim is to offer variety and choice, but to keep it simple. Elevenses, all day plates and salads. Snacks. Pizzas and puddings. Freshly baked tarts and quiches. Weekly pasta specials.

Their journey to pizza started in October 2018 during a trip to Italy. Over the course of 2020 a bespoke dough recipe was developed in conjunction with a master Pizzaiolo.

The building on Main Street was purpose built in the Sixties as a bank. A predominantly local team of contractors undertook the conversion to a restaurant.

The restaurant features a main dining room with a café and bar serving counter, a smaller intimate room, and an efficient semi-open kitchen design. The bank’s former vault houses the WC’s.

Outside the old bank’s archive store has been converted into The Dough Studio.

A secluded garden with outside seating lies beyond.

With delicious food, a passionate team and so much on offer, it’s no wonder they have joined Taste Cheshire. They fully embody what we are all about, local independent and foodie…. we thoroughly encourage you to try them out.

If you’re from Chester, you may be pleased to know that the train from Chester to Frodsham is both regular (train strikes permitting!) and it takes just about 13 minutes! Not only that, but Main Street Kitchen is only a 3 minute walk from the station.

Keep an eye on our socials and our deals and events pages for more about this fantastic venue.
