In the heart of Cheshire, a culinary revolution is brewing, spearheaded by the Wild Salt Community Cooking School. This non-profit initiative is dedicated to fostering social inclusion, enhancing culinary skills, and promoting a healthier relationship with food among community members, particularly those who rely on food banks.

The brainchild of passionate food enthusiast and community leader, Wild Salt is transforming kitchens into hubs of knowledge and camaraderie. Through a series of free cooking classes and paid supper clubs, the school is empowering individuals to prepare nutritious meals from scratch, using fresh, seasonal ingredients.

The impact of Wild Salt’s work is already evident. Participants have experienced a surge of confidence in their culinary abilities, leading to healthier eating habits and a deeper appreciation for the joy of cooking. The school has also forged strong connections between individuals from diverse backgrounds, fostering a sense of community and belonging.

To further support its mission, Wild Salt is hosting a series of paid cooking classes, including a sourdough pizza workshop with Rich from The Depot in Macclesfield and a gwafu vegan West African food class in January. All proceeds from these events will directly fund the organisation’s free cooking classes, ensuring that even the most vulnerable members of the community have access to this valuable resource.

If you’re inspired by Wild Salt’s commitment to social change and culinary empowerment, please consider supporting their endeavours. Attend their upcoming cooking classes, spread the word about their mission, or donate directly to their cause. Together, we can nourish communities and cultivate a more inclusive and healthy food culture.
