As part of our commitment to showcasing the very best of Cheshire, Taste Cheshire attended the spectacular relaunch of Oddfellows Chester, one of the city’s most iconic and definitely, a delightfully quirky venue. The event marked a triumphant return for this much-loved destination, now revitalised under the management of Brightstar Hospitality and led by a dedicated team passionate about delivering heartfelt hospitality and unique experiences.

A Return to Roots and Local Excellence
The grand relaunch celebrated Oddfellows’ return to its original concept, blending beautifully crafted drinks, a contemporary brasserie menu highlighting local and seasonal produce, and an unmatched lively atmosphere. With its lovingly refurbished Secret Garden offering a tranquil city-centre oasis, Oddfellows impressed us as a shining example of Chester’s creative spirit and culinary charm.

A Magical Celebration
The weekend featured a vibrant VIP party, where Chester’s Town Crier heralded this exciting new era. Guests were enchanted by whimsical characters—Mad Hatter, Cheshire Cat, and Alice herself—a nod to Oddfellows’ playful personality. The event sparkled with arrival fizz courtesy of the award-winning ThinK Wine Group, while Saturday night introduced Wonderland, an electric DJ event with John Locke at the helm, drawing over 200 guests to dance and connect.

Oddfellows’ Bright Future
As Taste Cheshire, we were inspired by Oddfellows’ dedication to creating authentic and memorable experiences. Their calendar of regular events, including Friday Sundowners, Wonderland DJ nights, and Sunday Sessions, reflects a venue that truly values community and engagement. We were particularly intrigued by Geddes and Gioia’s Monthly Bottomless Brunch, launching May 24th—a sure treat for food and drink lovers.

Douglas McGeorge, owner of Oddfellows, shared his excitement: “It was wonderful to see Oddfellows return to its party best. The team should be proud of the incredible standards they’ve set.” Izzy Marston, original founder, echoed his sentiments, highlighting her joy in rekindling the Oddfellows magic and working alongside such a passionate team.

Oddfellows Bar is open seven days a week, with the Brasserie serving from midday
Wednesday through Sunday. A dedicated events team is also on hand to deliver magical
weddings, meetings, and celebrations.
Regular Events Include:
Fridays – Sundowner from 6 PM
Saturdays (fortnightly) – Wonderland DJ Nights from 8 PM
Sundays – Sunday Sessions with live music from 1 PM
Launching Saturday 24th May – Geddes and Gioia’s Monthly Bottomless Brunch from
midday.
