Cheers to Chapter Brewing! This week, the Tate Cheshire community is raising a glass in celebration of a local brewing triumph, alongside acknowledging the closure of another beloved brewery.

Chapter Brewing’s Dead Man’s Fist has been crowned the Champion Winter Beer of Britain (CWBOB) 2024 in the Specialty, Differently Produced category at the Great British Beer Festival Winter! This prestigious award is a testament to the dedication and skill of the Chapter Brewing team, and a source of immense pride for the Cheshire brewing scene.

The journey to this golden victory wasn’t easy. Dead Man’s Fist faced stiff competition, eventually surpassing Cromarty Brewing’s Red Rocker (Silver) and Treen’s Brewery’s Smoulder (Bronze) after a year of rigorous regional heats and blind-tasting panels.

While we celebrate Chapter Brewing’s success, a shadow of sadness falls upon the local beer scene. This week, Tatton Brewery announced its closure, leaving a void in the hearts of many Cheshire beer enthusiasts.

Taste Cheshire extends its heartfelt condolences to the Tatton Brewery team. Who have announced that this will be their last week of trading. We understand the challenges facing the brewing industry and remain dedicated to supporting our local brewers. If you’re a brewer seeking assistance or resources, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

This bittersweet news underscores the importance of celebrating local heroes like Chapter Brewing, while simultaneously advocating for and supporting the entire Cheshire brewing community.

Let’s raise a glass to both the triumphs and the challenges, and continue fostering a vibrant and thriving beer scene in Cheshire!
