Race through history at our family friendly Roman Day on Saturday 25th May

Roman Day is back at Chester Racecourse. A yearly favourite, Roman Day is the first post-Boodles May Festival fixture of the season. Perfect for families, this race day will see a whole host of free activities on the Open Course (accessible with our cheapest ticket – the Roodee enclosure). Stay tuned for further details on all the exciting things that will be on offer on the day.

Roman Day celebrates both ours and our city’s Roman roots. Did you know that the racecourse was once entirely underwater? It was used as an important harbour by the Romans for trade. Keep an eye out on the day and you may even see some real Roman Centurions wondering the racecourse trying to find their ships.
