The well-known chain of Italian eateries has changed Gino D’Acampo’s former Luciano location in Alderley Edge.
This week marks the opening of the opulent new San Carlo site in Cheshire, home of the renowned Italian eatery.

The £3 million makeover of the Alderley Edge premises, which was formerly home to Gino D’Acampo’s short-lived Luciano restaurant, was lavished by the owners. Situated adjacent to the main line train station, it is a prominent spot in the community.

And a lot of people will recall the location from the 1990s and 2000s as the renowned Brasingamens Alderley Edge celebrity haunt. The site has undergone the most makeover yet thanks to the new San Carlo, which includes a large number of newly planted palm trees outside.
Its interior design is breathtaking, and the front of the property features a gorgeous dining area with a retractable roof on a gorgeous garden terrace. Custom artwork lines the walls, and there’s a functioning fireplace for ‘that year-round inside out feel’ in addition to a large, new marble bar that can seat thirty people around it.

In addition, as part of the building’s first phase of construction on the ground floor, the bosses invested in a completely new kitchen. The second stage will entail building an upstairs private dining and event space.

Inspired by the gardens and villas of Grand Milan, the new interior design creates a “captivating ambiance and a timeless sophistication” in the room.

The original kitchen was moved to make room for a larger dining space, and the entire 164-seat restaurant now has a patterned terrazzo floor with Venetian influences. The building’s front terrace has an open flame fireplace made of marble and plaster, a white internal pergola illuminated by Italian crystal pendant lights, and an abundance of plants.

Traditional Italian fare from San Carlo will be served, including the house speciality, tagliolini lobster. The menu has also been updated with new summertime offerings, such as Insalata Finocchio and Formaggio Caprino, a crisp summer salad topped with broad beans, fennel, and goat cheese, and Baccalà e Patate, salt-cooked cod served with potato and Taggiasche olives drizzled with lemon oil.

Along with this, the new menu will feature a mouth watering grand sharing pasta dish called Paccheri with coda di rospo e gamberi, which is large tube pasta topped with San Marzano tomatoes, monkfish, and prawns.

Commenting on the launch last month, San Carlo managing director Marcello Distefano had spoken about the “significant personal milestone” for his family to open in Alderley Edge. The family-run restaurant group is famous for the San Carlo on King Street in Manchester that has welcomed a glittering array of superstars and footballers over the past 20 years.

Marcello said: “This marks a significant personal milestone in our family’s journey as we venture into this vibrant and thriving community – it’s where my siblings and I grew up and went to school; it feels like coming home. It’s also a perfect location for us as many of our loyal customers in Manchester reside in and around the area.  As we gear up for the opening, we wanted to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Alderley Edge community for the overwhelming support and enthusiasm – we’ve taken our time with the remodelling and design; we wanted to ensure we did this great location justice and deliver a destination we feel has been sought after for some time.

“We cannot wait to open the doors and welcome in our regular and new diners.”
