Built at the turn of the 20th century, this elegant country house was commissioned by Sir Aubrey Brocklebank, a shipping magnate who designed the Queen Mary liner. He was beguiled by the surrounding landscape, in particular the 60-acre lake, and the hall soon became a favourite party venue for Edwardian society. Today the house is now a small luxury hotel. One of its main attractions is the Crystal Restaurant, where fresh local ingredients – organic where possible – are used by chefs for dishes of exceptional quality, with local suppliers including Devonshire Bakery in Frodsham.
