An inn has stood on this site since the 14th century - it was once an important stop for horse-drawn coaches travelling the London to Chester route. Today it houses one of the region's leading pub-restaurants, having undergone a radical makeover, which has opened up the warren of rooms and introduced fresh contemporary furnishings and decor, while retaining a sense of tradition.
Hereford beef from Meadow bank Farm in nearby Broxton, is one of the many local suppliers helping Matt Murphy and his family, to fulfil their commitment to sue the fantastic local produce available on their doorstep.
