Food Trails

The county of Cheshire is rich with some of the best flavours that you have ever tasted. Our job is to help you find these special Cheshire taste highlights and our food trails make for a fabulous way of eating your way around our cities and county.

Cheshire is an astounding county, the richest milk pastures, a cheese discovered back in Roman times, salt fit for Tsars and Kings, the deepest flavoured Asparagus both green and “purple”, Red Poll beef, “Happy beef”, Water milled flour, a myriad of flavours of beer, Turkeys galore and much, much, more. All of this within 35 minutes of a city, in Chester that simply exudes the flavours of the county and gives you a glimpse of these special Cheshire treats. Out trails then take you deeper in to your own taste heaven on our very special trails.

We have designed these trails to link you to the farms that let you take the produce from the land, to the shops that bring it all together for the local farmers, the pubs that take the produce and serve one of the 26 micro brewery beers on offer and the restaurants that make the produce sing on your plate and in your mouth.

Our food trails are a journey, not just of taste, but of knowledge, as passionate people tell you about how this food has ended up on your plate, in your shopping bag and destined for your oven.

Great bite sized journeys that could be a walking trip around Chester, a cycle ride through the plains or a car journey covering the county for a great day out.

Simply click on the trails shown above and be assured that your visits will make a culinary trip second to none.

You can create your own trail with our itinerary builder; you can find the key events that showcase our foods with our many food festivals and farmers markets and then get closer to the producers, you can even stay on the farms, take cookery classes and develop your own understanding of the Cheshire food scene.

Whatever you are looking for our food trails should help you find it and if you do find your hidden gem then share it with us, email or tweet and we will let others know your experiences. Take some pictures, show us what you have found and enjoy discovering a “Taste of Cheshire”.
